Steven Sawicki
Steven Sawicki is a Program Manager for the New York State Department of Health.
He has a Master’s degree in Human Service Administration from Antioch New England University. He has been with the New York State Department of Health since April of 2012, working in the AIDS Institute, first out of the Office of the Medical Director (OMD) and now out of the Center for Program Development, Implementation, Research and Evaluation (CPDIRE) as the lead for NYLinks, a statewide initiative to improve linkage to care and retention in care for HIV+ individuals. NYLinks was initially funded as a HRSA Special Program of National Significance (SPNS) and is now part of New York State’s Ending the Epidemic Initiative. Prior to that he ran HIV clinics at Jordan Health Care in Rochester and Whitney M. Young Health Center in Albany. In 2010 he served as a consultant working to create an HIV web presence for SAMHSA. He was Faculty with University of Phoenix for 7 years, teaching Organizational Development, Group Dynamics, Program Planning and Proposal Writing. He is a grant reviewer for SAMHSA, HRSA, the Office of National Service, CDC, and OJJDP. He has successfully completed Training on Coaching Basics, Training of Quality Leaders, and Training of Trainers through the National Quality Center. He has created and facilitated dozens of trainings on quality improvement. For fun he races sports cars in the Champcar Endurance Series. He is currently a driver with the Average Joe’s Racing Team driving a Miata NC. In the past he as driven Porsche 944s, BMWs and Camaros. He is also a professional writer and reviewer focusing on science fiction, fantasy and horror.
