Lovina John (she/her) is currently a full time policy associate with non-profit Community Education Group (CEG), which works on the syndemic of HIV, Hepatitis, and Substance Use Disorder across Appalachia as it intersects with community and economic development.

Lovina received a Bachelor's of Science in Biological Sciences while on a pre-medical track along with a Bachelor's of Art in Cognitive Science and a minor in Drug Addictions form the University of Buffalo. She has worked in various research settings including one research lab looking at the behavioral economics of tobacco and nicotine products and volunteering in a research lab looking into cue reactivity and puff topography of tobacco-nicotine products, with a personal focus on e-cigarettes (ENDS). She continuted to gain her Master's in Public Health in Community Health and Health Behavior at the University of Buffalo. This coursework was supplemented with policy internships with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) as well as with Community Education Group.
