Rebecca Amantia, MPH, Ph.D. is the Director of Harm Reduction Initiatives at the Tennessee Department of Health.
Dr. Amantia provides support to emerging and existing harm reduction efforts in Tennessee by overseeing Tennessee’s syringe service program (SSP) application process, delivering harm reduction training, and by monitoring and evaluating SSP operations through quantitative and qualitative measures. Dr. Amantia also assists the Syndemic Coordination Director with various End The Syndemic (ETS) special projects including spearheading the first statewide syndemic needs assessment in collaboration with local, state, and community partners. Additionally, she manages the monitoring and evaluation of five ETS pilot projects implementing syndemic strategies across Tennessee. Dr. Amantia received an MPH in international health and Ph.D. in public health at Oregon State University with special interests in health and human rights.
