Megan Honeck is a Senior Health Project Coordinator who has been with University of Rochester Center for Community Practice for two and a half years.
Megan started her career in community health and prevention during high school as a peer leader of a young adult support group, officer of the GSA and recipient of awards for activism and women’s issues. Megan attended college at Stony Brook University where she majored in Psychology and Women and Gender Studies with a minor in Human Sexual and Gender Development and took part in peer education internships on community health and HIV education. During and immediately after college Megan worked with individuals with developmental disabilities in a direct support role, followed by a care coordination position that served families throughout Rochester.
Megan worked for five years at a local CBO as a community health educator, building strong relationships with community members in the adult day health program, delivering educational workshops to schools and substance use treatment centers and providing in house HIV testing services. Megan also provided staff onboarding trainings and lead the agency wide Trauma-Informed Care initiative.
While at CCP Megan has continued her commitment to building capacity for equity, affirming stigma-free services, and trauma informed care.
