Reginald Austin

Reginald Austin is Linkage Department Manager, Case Manager, and Linkage to Care Specialist-Community Engagement Member at THRIVE Support Services.

Reginald Austin is a dedicated professional with a diverse educational background and extensive experience in community service and advocacy. He began his academic journey at Baker College in 2012, where he pursued courses towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services (Social Work), balancing online classes and campus courses to accommodate his work schedule. In 2011, Reginald continued his studies at the University of Phoenix, focusing on coursework in Social Work and Psychology to deepen his understanding of human behavior and social systems. Additionally, he undertook foundational classes towards a degree in Advertising/Marketing at Northwood University in 2007, demonstrating his versatile academic pursuits.

With a passion for serving others and promoting health equity, Reginald has held various roles dedicated to supporting individuals in need. Currently serving as the Linkage Department Manager, Case Manager, and Linkage to Care Specialist-Community Engagement Member at THRIVE Support Services since October 2021, he oversees departmental operations, develops strategies to meet target goals, and facilitates critical connections for individuals seeking care and preventive measures.

Prior to his current role, Reginald contributed significantly to the mission of The Aliveness Project of Northwest Indiana from May 2018 to January 2021, where he provided case management, linkage to care, and group intervention facilitation services for individuals living with HIV. His proactive approach in building partnerships with local healthcare providers and mental health professionals ensured timely access to essential services and support for newly diagnosed individuals.

Reginald’s expertise extends beyond his professional roles, as he actively engages in volunteer, consulting, advisory, and advocacy work. He has been involved in various initiatives such as the Black Treatment Advocates Network (BTAN) and Community Health Improvement Initiative (CHII), where he played instrumental roles in developing recruitment strategies for HIV testing and treatment outreach. His dedication to advocacy is further exemplified through his participation in community advisory groups and his involvement in harm reduction and substance use disorder initiatives.
