- Centering People in the Sex Trade: Harm Reduction Tools for Better Health
Explore transformative harm reduction strategies that tackle the critical issues of STIs and sexual health among women and transgender individuals that are unhoused, using substances, and engaging in the sex trade. Learn to dismantle barriers and stigma, cultivating a nuanced and compassionate approach to address the unique challenges faced by this community. People trading sex for survival are under-identified, underserved and stigmatized within heavily marginalized communities, exacerbating negative health outcomes. Discover why a harm reduction framework is essential for navigating effective STI and sexual health care. - Leveraging HIV and HCV Advocacy Opportunities to End the Epidemics
The recently released White House Plan for HCV Elimination presents an opportunity for the federal government to leverage the intersection between HCV and HIV to address HIV/HCV coinfection among communities impacted by both epidemics, such as people who use drugs, BIPOC communities, LGBTQ+ and young people. It also has the potential to ensure that strategies to address unique needs around HIV/HCV co-infection are elevated. Strong partnerships among HIV and HCV advocates are needed to urge the federal government to seize this opportunity. This interactive workshop will provide a platform for engagement among advocates to start the process of identifying non-duplicative strategies.
