Power of Prevention

  • Prioritizing the Whole Health of Black, Transgender Women through Bundled Interventions and Gender-Affirming Care
This interactive workshop shares Positive Impact Health Centers (PIHC) process for creating improved HIV and whole person outcomes for Black transwomen. PIHC was a site for the Black Women First Initiative (BWFI) a Health Resources Service Administration (HRSA)-funded multi-site project providing bundled evidence-informed interventions: intensive case management, trauma-informed behavioral health, DV/IPV support and trans-specific services (TransLife Care). PIHC made service delivery enhancements (TWIST intervention, cosmetology or medical assistant school enrollment, name and gender-marker change assistance, community dinners and drop-in center) that yielded remarkable improvement.
  • Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges: Combination HIV Prevention for Black Women
13% of U.S. women, Black women, carry 54% of HIV diagnoses (2021). Traditional methods fall short, failing Black women due to systemic barriers, research gaps, and stigma. This workshop empowers change: combination HIV prevention. We’ll explore challenges, dissect limitations, and unveil the transformative power of weaving multiple strategies for maximum impact. Clear explanations, practical models, and real-world examples equip you with knowledge, tools, and inspiration to advocate for cis and trans Black women’s health and ignite an HIV prevention revolution. This is an engaging workshop to empower participants to build lasting change in their community!
  • EHE Today: A Reflection of the Ending the HIV Epidemic Initiative in the US—Successes and Progress
This presentation will demonstrate the HAB EHE accomplishments over the first three years of the initiative, review the quantitative and qualitative data, discuss the impact that RWHAP EHE recipients have made, highlight community engagement, collaboration and TA models of success, and highlight the RWHAP Part F AIDS Education and Training Center Program (AETC) support towards Ending the HIV Epidemic in the United States.
