- Bridging Gaps in PrEP Awareness Regarding SUD Treatment and Incarceration
This presentation advocates integrating PrEP into post-SUD treatment and incarceration healthcare, emphasizing comprehensive provider education to address heightened HIV risk among individuals with SUD engaging in high-risk behaviors, such as MSM on the downlow, chemsex, and survival sex. Despite harm reduction success in lowering national HIV cases, meeting CDC’s PrEP goals is challenging. The presentation identifies gaps in reaching vulnerable populations transitioning from SUD treatment or incarceration, suggesting a local survey to assess awareness. The initiative urges community involvement to address challenges, aiming for a robust network to reduce HIV transmission in this vulnerable group.
