- Effectiveness of a Virtual Patient Simulation at Improving Individualized Sexual Health Care
This study explores a virtual patient simulation (VPS) platform for enhancing learners’ clinical skills in sexual health screening and individualized therapy. Two cases—a heterosexual woman assigned female at birth with vaginal pain and a homosexual man assigned male at birth recently diagnosed with HIV—were presented. Significant improvements were observed post-simulation, indicating enhanced abilities in patient assessment and tailored treatment interventions.VPS offers an immersive, practical learning environment, improving evidence-based decision-making for sexual health screening and therapy application. - Understanding Perspectives on Patient-Provider Communication Surrounding Sex, Sexuality, and Substance Use
This presentation will delve into qualitative findings concerning patient-provider communication regarding sexuality, sexual behavior, and substance use. These insights will serve as a foundation to inform a multi-level intervention tailored for Arizona’s HIV priority populations. This collaborative project actively involves HIV priority populations, healthcare providers, and PrEP care coordinators. By bridging the gaps between these groups, we aim to offer a comprehensive perspective on enhancing patient-provider communication. This holistic approach seeks to seamlessly integrate innovations into our health systems, ultimately enhancing the quality of care provided. - Express Visits
Chicago Family Health Center has implemented express visits to our clinic sites. These express visits consist of 20-minute time slots with Health Educators, who are trained in HIV test counseling, sexual health and STIs. The program has been in place for two years and we have seen significant benefits.
