- Eliminating Barriers for Latinx MSM and Transgender Women Through a Syndemic Approach
This presentation centers on Latinx MSM and Transgender women, emphasizing the removal of barriers to accessing STI and HIV prevention care. The presentation will also delve into additional syndemic approaches to comprehensively address the health needs of these populations. - Effectively Engaging and Supporting Harm Reduction Programs through a Syndemic Approach
Harm reduction programs—and those that support them—have long known that their success is connected to centering the lived experience of those impacted by the syndemics of HIV, Hepatitis C and other viral STIs. Through a dynamic presentation information and strategies will be provided on addressing HIV, HCV, and STIs with existing harm reduction programs to effectively engage and provide services to people who use drugs. AIDS United staff will discuss their experiences and expertise in effectively supporting and engaging with a wide range of harm reduction programs throughout the United States. - Identifying Facilitators for a Syndemic Approach: Learning from Providers on the Ground
Participants will learn about preliminary findings from an ongoing evaluation project being led by the HHS Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy (OIDP) to identify facilitators and barriers of integrated, syndemic-focused prevention, treatment, and care services for HIV, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, substance use disorders, and mental health. Participants will also learn about OIDP’s work in implementing syndemic approaches.
