We All Have a Role
This session explores the use of interactive storytelling within community theater as a tool to engage audiences on HIV and other STI prevention, focusing on PrEP usage and combating social determinants of health. The session examines and challenges the effectiveness of storytelling in raising awareness, changing attitudes, and promoting health behaviors among diverse communities.
Participants will engage in a brief interactive theater exercise, followed by a discussion on adapting storytelling techniques for diverse audiences. We will delve into practical methods for incorporating cultural nuances and addressing sensitive topics with respect and efficacy. The workshop will also cover strategies for measuring the impact of these interventions on knowledge, attitudes, and behavior related to HIV and STI prevention.
Furthermore, this workshop will provide a platform for participants to share their own experiences and insights, fostering a collaborative environment for exchanging best practices. Attendees will leave with a toolkit of adaptable storytelling strategies, ready to implement within their own community engagement and health education initiatives. The goal is to empower participants to become effective advocates for sexual health, equipped with innovative methods for reaching diverse populations.
