- Financing Integrated Hepatitis C Services: Focus on Harm Reduction and Pharmacy Settings
Provision of hepatitis C services within “non-traditional” settings represents an opportunity to enhance patient capture, retention, and health outcomes; however, barriers to payment and reimbursement can limit integrated services. This session will review barriers facing hepatitis C services within syringe services programs (SSPs) and other harm-reduction programs, as well as pharmacy-led care settings. Presenters will describe real-world implementation of approaches including (but not limited to): utilizing street medicine reimbursement codes, expanding scope of practice laws, and enhancing linkage to care. - Advancing Health Equity: Improving the Reentry Experience through Innovative HIV, Hepatitis C Programming
Individuals released from incarceration face unique circumstances that make community engagement in HIV and/or hepatitis C care and treatment challenging. To promote successful reentry, address health equity, and social determents of health, the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute’s Office of Criminal Justice Services implements the Corrections Health Initiative. The initiative funds community-based organizations to implement interventions including HIV and/or hepatitis C navigation services, prevention and health education, and supportive services within the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision correctional facilities.
